Best Surprise Ever!!

More Spiffy Home Improvements

Before...

A new ceiling fan in my bedroom! I scraped off popcorn to add the medallion and put it up all by myself (whew! my arms were tired by the end!)

... After!

I found fun ruffly pillows at Costco to put on my bed. They make the colors in the picture and flower bouquets "pop" (pop is the official home decorating word :-)

No more monsters in my closet!!

I know it doesn't look that bad, but what you can't see is that the shelf was pulling out of the wall and taking drywall down with it because the shelf and closet rod didn't have proper support for their length. It was just a matter of time before it all came crashing down, so I took it all out...

...and put in new, better shelves and closet rods.

Construction zone

Wood clamps (holding the trim that I glued to the edge of each plywood piece)

Hand-drilled holes (lots of them) for adjustable shoe & sweater shelves. Pre-drilled shelving cost about 4 times more than plywood, so I bought the plywood, put on a book on CD and spent a few hours measuring and drilling holes.

I glued trim to the edge of the plywood pieces to make them look nicer.

I LOVE the end result!!!!

A Tune for Your Tuesday

A day late, I know. This one is dedicated to Rob. I've invested all I know how to invest in that relationship and it's time to let it go.

Salt and Water

You always hear that lots of salt is bad for you.  And I can feel a difference in my body when I've had a lot of salt.  My fingers feel puffy.  Salt makes you retain water, right?  So I wonder if camels consume a lot of salt or if their physical make-up is naturally high in sodium and that helps them retain and store water.  Do they need salt licks?  Do they drink salt water?  How are salt, water and camels related?

Does he know????

Every morning I leave for work around the same time, give or take 3 minutes. And every morning as I turn out of my complex I pass a blind man waiting at the bus stop. I wonder if he knows that I drive by him every morning. Can he distinguish my car from everyone else's? Does he think to himself, "there goes that 2002 Honda Accord again"? Or when I leave early or am running late does he notice that I don't drive by during the few minutes he waits there? I just wonder.

Trying Something New

Ok, I don't blog much (as you have noticed if you're even still reading my blog). I tend to post about events, but not much just about every day observations. I think about all kinds of random things and those thoughts all usually stay in my head because there's not usually anyone around for me to tell them to, but I'm going to try to start putting some of them on my blog. I know I enjoy reading blog entries by friends and family no matter what the content. It also helps that I've set up my blog so I can email entries to it now and I don't have to use Blogger. Yeah!
